At a press conference Thursday will publicly present BankID Bank ID 2.0 – a service without JavaScript. Since November, the Bank ID worked feverishly to cut the JavaScript from the product. The reason is the constant security holes that pop up software to Oracle.

Necessarily constitute no risk to bank customers directly, but security experts have long warned strongly against that users have installed java client on your browser. However, for many users it means they can not log on to online banking

It is the banks themselves that owns Bank ID, and after that digi.no experience they have put the company under pressure to come up with an alternative that eliminates JavaScript. After that digi.no experience they have for some time been working intensively to come up with a substitute and several options have been considered.

Which solution they have fallen down is not known, but will be known later this week. Bank ID itself will not comment on the case before the presentations this week.

However, the new solution also means that there must be investment. In June, banks, who own the Bank ID, therefore, to decide whether to go for the new solution and take the kosta baths incurred, or whether they will continue on the old solution.

is therefore not known when most Internet users in Norway can uninstall Java for good.
